G7峰會在德國舉行，德國媒體的描繪卻充滿諷刺，譬如德國電視台的標題是：「亂世的峰會」，它說，無論烏克蘭東部、敘利亞、北非、伊拉克，危機正威脅世界和平，迫切需要化解衝突，但這種「可恥而昂貴的峰會」對解決衝突無濟於事。德國《商報》的標題則是：無奈的「七個人」，它問：一個沒有中國和俄羅斯參加的峰會，能找到政治和經濟領域的答案嗎？任何美國所參與的國際性組織或會議，它必然要主導，利用團體謀求美國的利益，G7內部顯然已不想再受美國支配了，法國、德國、義大利乃至英國都以自身利益為重，無條件接受美國領導的只有日本與加拿大。這從亞投行事件上可以明顯地看出。

美國的亞太再平衡策略孤掌難鳴，它非常想把歐洲盟國拉了進來，它想把南海問題混入G7就是一種試探，當然美國自己不便出面，於是背後慫恿日本出面，要日本在峰會上發言，要求將議題列入會議。但歐洲四國會認真理會嗎？烏克蘭問題是歐洲國家最關心的，因為這涉及他們與俄羅斯的衝突，但美國的立場仍是不可妥協。至於伊拉克、敘利亞、葉門等正遭受「伊斯蘭國」（IS）等恐怖激進組織的猛攻，G7所有七國都不願捲入。伊朗問題呢？歐洲對伊核發展始終憂心忡忡，但美國已決定與伊朗妥協，峰會還能有什麼決定？德國媒體說的很對，沒有俄、中兩國，休想解決問題，這就無怪乎他們想再把俄羅斯拉回到G8，再把中國拉進組織。，
