習近平在講話中表示，中共已故領導人鄧小平1974年在聯大發言中表示，中國是一個發展中國家，如今40多年過去，習近平說：「中國雖然取得巨大發展成就，但仍然是發展中國家」。發展中國家主要分布「南」半球及北半球「南」端，所謂「南南合作」即指發展中國家之間的合作。習近平當日稍早於聯合國另一場可持續發展峰會上發表演說時表示，中國將設南南合作援助基金，首期對最不發達國家投資20億美元（約台幣600億）。5年支持6個100項目習近平在南南合作論壇中表示，南南合作是發展中國家聯合自強的偉大創舉，他建議未來應致力於探索多元發展道路、致力於促進各國發展戰略對接、致力於實現務實發展成效、致力於完善全球發展架構。習近平在論壇中宣布，未來5年將向發展中國家提供「6個100」項目支持，在前述六大領域中，每一領域提供100個項目支持。此外，未來5年內，中國還將向發展中國家提供12萬個來華培訓和15萬個獎學金名額，為發展中國家培養50萬職業技術人員。設專門學院協訓人才中國還將設立南南合作與發展學院，向世界衛生組織提供200萬美元的現匯援助。他強調，與廣大發展中國家團結合作，是中國對外關係不可動搖的根基。習近平結束對美的國是訪問後，轉至紐約的聯合國總部出席系列峰會。他27日與聯合國婦女署聯合主持「全球婦女峰會」並發言，承諾捐助1000萬美元改善婦女權益。此次峰會意在紀念1995年北京全球婦女峰會通過《北京宣言》、《行動綱要》20周年。(中國時報)，
