花蓮市的抗風道路指示牌，禁得起颱風考驗！蘇迪勒颱風襲台造成花蓮市多處路樹攔腰折斷、倒伏路面，舊式的道路指示牌也多數傾斜、倒塌，但新式的抗風道路指示牌卻幾乎沒有傾倒，發揮抗風效益。花蓮市公所表示，過去每到颱風季節時，市區的道路指示牌容易因強風吹襲扭曲變形或掉落、傾倒等情形，災後大批的指示牌需要修復，所要花費的成本龐大驚人。

因此，花蓮市公所自4年前開始，逐年汰換約2700面老舊指示牌，目前市區新式指示牌已達9成以上；新式的道路指示牌上方設有加強抗風性折面，能避免強風導致扭曲變形，支幹桿則和牌面中間相互固定，加強抗風效果，經過這次最大15級陣風考驗，幾乎全數無損，減低災損支出。(中國時報)，
